PROJECT INFORMATION
Introduction
The project is subsidized by the Cyprus Research Foundation and sponsored by Microsoft. Partners of the project are the English School, Virtual IT and the University of Cyprus.
Virtual School Workshop Overview
The English School is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in Cyprus, offering a broad spectrum of high school education and activities including sport, music and drama. The project will investigate the possibility of performing on-line classes transforming existing methods, workshops and activities by employing easy to use tools in an existing bi-communal environment with emphasis on group work and projects. It is expected that the end result will be used to build functionality, sub-workshops, exams, homework, art, schedules, store information and in general an environment were students and teachers will work in an collaborative environment as a team whenever and wherever they might be.
To meet the research objectives and to design and build the pilot workshops a well established e-learning platform will be used. Based on our research the Microsoft Learning Gateway from Microsoft has been selected.
Project Objectives
The project objectives are as follows:
- Build an environment were work, play and communication will be hosted under the same roof and will be able to have a creative workshop on-line no matter where someone is.
- Combine all the known and possible tools offered by the existing e-learning technology in providing a collaborative approach between students and teachers transforming the school activities on-line than taking school classes on-line.
- Students and Teachers should be able to get on-line but also link to the on-going and dynamic activities.
